While Cheesy Bacon Potato Rounds are undeniably delicious, they are also a rich and indulgent treat that should be enjoyed in moderation due to their high calorie and fat content. However, they do offer some nutritional benefits:

1. **Potatoes:** Potatoes are a good source of carbohydrates, providing energy for the body. They also contain dietary fiber, especially in the skin, which aids digestion and helps maintain bowel regularity.

2. **Protein from Bacon and Cheese:** Bacon and cheese provide a moderate amount of protein. Protein is essential for building and repairing tissues in the body, supporting the immune system, and producing enzymes and hormones.

3. **Calcium:** Cheese is a rich source of calcium, which is vital for maintaining strong bones and teeth. It also plays a crucial role in nerve function and muscle contraction.

4. **Phosphorus:** Both cheese and potatoes contain phosphorus, an essential mineral that helps with bone health, kidney function, and energy production.

5. **B Vitamins:** Potatoes contain several B vitamins, including vitamin B6 and niacin. These vitamins play roles in energy metabolism, nerve function, and maintaining healthy skin.

6. **Selenium:** Some cheeses contain selenium, which is an important antioxidant that supports the immune system and helps protect cells from damage.

While these benefits are present, it’s important to note that the high amount of saturated fat and sodium from bacon and cheese in Cheesy Bacon Potato Rounds can outweigh the nutritional advantages. Therefore, it’s best to enjoy them occasionally and in moderation as part of a balanced diet.

If you’re looking to make this dish slightly healthier, consider some alternatives:

– **Use leaner cuts of bacon:** Look for low-sodium or turkey bacon, which is lower in saturated fat.

– **Opt for reduced-fat cheese:** You can use reduced-fat or part-skim cheese to reduce the overall fat content.

– **Bake instead of frying:** Instead of pan-frying the potato rounds, consider baking them with a light coating of olive oil to reduce the added fat.

Remember that moderation is key, and it’s essential to balance indulgent treats with a variety of nutrient-rich foods to maintain a healthy diet.

Ingredients :

Porterhouse steak

2 medium sized russet potatoes

Salt

Pepper

Basil

2 slices crispy fried bacon (crumbled)

Cheddar cheese

Instructions :

This is a steak I seasoned with a little salt, pepper and basil … that’s it. I baked it in a CI frying pan in a small EVOO for 3 minutes on each side and then in a preheated 400 ° oven for 10 minutes. The perfect medium steak. But it’s these french fries that I really wanted to share with you. I took some medium-sized russet potatoes (with skin), washed them, dried them well, heated them in the microwave for about 7-8 minutes, let them cool, and then sliced them to a thickness of 1/4 inch. Season with salt, pepper and basil, then in a frying pan preheated with EVOO until both sides are crispy and golden. While the potatoes are still hot, sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese on top and put the crushed bacon on top. These potatoes are very soft and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside.
