Deep-Fried Oreos 



• 2 quarts vegetable oil for frying

• 1 cup milk

• 1 large egg

• 2 teaspoons vegetable oil

• 1 cup pancake mix

• 1 (18-ounce) package cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookies (such as Oreo)


I heat the oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

In a large bowl, I whisk together milk, egg, and 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil until the mixture becomes smooth. Then, I stir in the pancake mix until there are no dry lumps left.

I dip the cookies into the batter, one at a time, and carefully place them into the hot oil. I fry them in batches, typically 4 or 5 at a time, until the cookies achieve a golden brown color, which takes about 2 minutes. After frying, I drain them on a paper towel-lined plate before serving.
